Hey! It’s Connor here with Shopfix and I wanted to share a little about my story! I grew up in Kansas City and briefly lived in Arizona for college but ultimately moved back to be closer to my family. My grandpa on my dad’s side was a home builder, remodeler, and eventually a retired woodworker who was expectational at his craft. He built a heirloom secretary desk which I think captures the extent of his knowledge in woodworking perfectly. I seemed to follow in his footsteps and went on to take Wood Technology all four years in high school. During freshman year I decided to build everyone in my family something for Christmas and it’s a tradition that I still do today.

I’m not sure if I found woodworking or if woodworking found me but either way I’m sure glad to have learned the craft! I have so many early memories of woodworking with my dad and grandpa. At that time gaining free access to grandpa’s scrap wood bin underneath his jointer felt like complete freedom. Nowadays I work in a fully functional shop equipped with some of the same machines and tools I grew up using.

Sometimes in life you have to commit to what you love even if that means sacrificing some things. Shopfix was that commitment, and its been a passion that has challenged me in more ways than one. Shopfix was created for the love of woodworking and I hope to share this passion by helping others bring their custom woodworking projects to life!
